Test & Validation Engineer

 REPORTS TO:    Design Engineering Manager

DIVISION:         Design/Product Engineering

 

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • Perform R&D test and validation of ICs designed on SOS process for various applications
  • Design test and validation setups
  • Maintain R&D test gear
  • Work with production test engineers

KEY DELIVERABLES

1. Perform R&D test and validation in one or more of the following areas:

  • High speed digital
  • Analog/mixed signal
  • Power/high voltage
  • Environmental testing including temperature and humidity
  • Accelerated lifetime testing
  • Validating designs against published standards
  • RF testing under supervision
  • Other types of testing as required

2. Design of test and validation setups:

  • Design, layout and assembly of PCBs and test fixtures and setups for the above test and validation scenarios
  • Documentation of test setups and PCB designs
  • Managing and organising test setup including sourcing parts, maintaining parts inventory etc.
  • FPGA programming
  • Coding of test and validation scripts
  • Documentation of test and validation protocols and reports including keeping formal lab book records

3. Maintain R&D test gear:

  • Operate test and validation gear for the above scenarios
  • Track calibration status of lab equipment and organise regular calibration as required
  • Source additional gear as required for projects

4. Work with production test staff:

  • Help with the transition from R&D testing to production testing for various projects
  • Collaborate with production test staff to do some production test/characterisation work
  • Learn Sapphicon's production test environment and standards

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Science (Physics) or Computer Engineering/Science or equivalent
  • Experience in board level circuit design and testing:
  • Schematic
  • Layout
  • Assembly
  • Debugging
  • Knowledge of CMOS IC validation and testing is an advantage
  • Experience with wafer probing is an advantage
  • Experience with RF testing is a plus but not a requirement

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Strong communication skills are required in collaborating with designers and test staff
  • Be professional in dealing with internal and external customers
  • Demonstrate tolerance of ambiguity, self-motivation, and flexibility to adapt to new situations
  • Be a team player
  • Be comfortable learning a wide variety of programming and scripting languages
