Device Engineer

 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with Process Engineering and Design Engineering on the specification, development, characterisation and qualification of electronic devices and manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and characterise models of devices in support of Process Engineering, Design Engineering and other organisations.

 

 

Key Deliverables:

  • New device architectures
  • Development and maintenance of Device Structures
  • Qualification of new devices and processes
  • Reports, presentations and interpretations of simulation and characterisation results
  • Analysis of measured data with recommendations for improvement of processes and devices
  • Diagnoses of device failures and performance issues
  • Test structure designs
  • Experimental designs and analyses

 

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics or equivalent;
  • 5-10 years experience in a device engineering or device physicist role, or similar;
  • Solid understanding of CMOS device perfomance and characterisation;
  • Familiarity with semiconductor processing technology, including epitaxial growth;
  • Familiarity with semiconductor optoelectronics devices, including photodiodes, light emitting diodes and photovoltaic devices;
  • Familiarity with process and device testing and characterisation;
  • Experience in some or all of the following required:

TCAD (Process simulation and device simulation)

DC Device characterization

C-V characterization

Test structure design, layout and characterisation

Hot carrier effects (n-channel and p-channel HCI)

Device Performance characterization and analysis in I-V, C-V

SPICE model verification and fitting

  • Excellent analytical skills;

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research and development independently and to capture IP;
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills;
